Maintaining a healthy weight and physique comes from a
balanced healthy diet and routine physical activity. With all the new crazy
diet trends, and mixed messages that the media sends to us, it is hard to know
what a balanced healthy meal really is. Protein helps us maintain and build lean muscle, carbohydrates/starches give our body and brain energy to function, and fruit and veggies give us the nutrients we need to stay healthy. Let’s go back to the basics and
remember that a meal should look like this picture.

Healthy Proteins: chicken,
turkey, white fish, salmon, lean ground beef, eggs, beans, tofu, greek yogurt,

Healthy
Carbs: sweet potatoes, yams, brown rice, oatmeal, quinoa, cous-cous,
Ezekial bread, whole wheat breads and pastas.

Healthy
fats: olive oil. Avocados, almonds, nuts, peanut butter, soymilk, almond
milk, tofu, fish

Fruits
and Veggies: ALL!!!!
